People
associated with the growth of the Crystal Group over the years
recall that there was a time when its products were being openly
sold as "imported" goods in the Bombay Market. This
could also be interpreted as a reflection of the group's humble
beginnings. Which did not allow for a sizable advertising and
marketing budget to establish a distinctive brand name. But it is
also a clear testament of the high quality standards that the
group has set, attained and most importantly maintained.
A brief overview
of the manufacturing set-up and processes shows how this has been
achieved simply put, quality is inseparable from any of the
process in the Crystal Group's way of working.
It begins with
procurement of materials from genuine and genuine source. All in
coming components are subjected to the cyclic test over 40 degrees
Celsius to 55 degrees Celsius. Then rigorous functional testing
takes place and rejection are simply thrown away.
Assembly takes
place in a fully anti-static environment and testing is done with
various instruments like frequency counters and frequency
generators. Soldering is done only via the wave soldering method a
quality check by it self. After preliminary testing at the PCB
level step, step-by-step testing is done at different levels. This
is a natural extension of Crystal's chief designing characteristic
which is adoption of the modular mode of construction a mode that
allows easy design adaptability as well as better checking as well
as after sales service.
Components are
then subjected to the dry heat chamber test one sample of each
batch before they go for final inspection.
The design and
assembly segments of Crystal's set up are themselves arrangements
in a modular fashion. The workshop is fully equipped for sheet
metal fabrication. Like wise the assembly section is fully
equipped with lead cutting / bending machines and jig fixtures for
PCB assembly. The testing equipment includes storage oscilloscopes
and a range of Multimeters.
In addition to
this setup which is backed by the strength of experienced and
competent personnel, Crystal has the proven ability to design
digital logic based circuits along circuits and low-end discrete
logic and function circuits. crystal has also proven in the sphere
of medium complexity circuits.
Its chief
strength is of course in the product engineering department. The
Crystal characteristic of distributing circuits into modules with
ideal physical placement allows overall ease of operation
and maintenance. So user friendly are Crystal's products that the
group is often asked to give engineering consultancy and guidance.
